Sore Throat 4 tablespoons of brewer`s yeast. 1 tablespoon of honey. Mix in a cup or mug and gargle the throat several times an hour.
Headache i) Brown paper soaked in vinegar and placed on the forehead.

ii) Apply a mixture of ice and salt, in proportion of one to one and a half to the head or point of pain. Can be put in a cloth bag.
Rheumatism Using a warm flat iron, cover the iron with a cloth or fabric moistened in vinegar and apply to the painful area. Repeat this a few times per day.
Insomnia Eat 3 small raw onions before going to bed.
Hot Milk Posset for Insomnia (serves 2)

Pound 2 or 3 bitter almonds with about 1/8 teaspoon of almond extract. Heat 1 pint milk, add 1/2 teaspoon grated lemon peel and 1/4 cup sugar. Then add the almonds and remove from heat. Beat and add 1 egg white. Add 1/4 cup dark rum and 1/2 cup brandy and froth it up.

Nosebleed Sniff vinegar or ice water up the nose.
Burns and Scalds

i) Put the white of an egg over the wound. 

ii) For a dry burn, make a paste of baking soda and water. For a wet burn or scald, sprinkle the dry baking soda on it.

Dull Complexion

Before going to bed put 3 drops of apple cider vinegar on a clean face. Pat it for up to a minute.

Age Spots

Apply Aloe Vera to age spots to reduce their appearance.

Lavender Water

1 bottle of distilled water. 5 drops essential lavender oil to every 5 oz of water. 2 ounces orris root. Fresh lavender sprigs to decorate outside of bottle. Keep the mixture two or three weeks and then strain it through the thickness of blotting paper.
USES: sunburn, facial toner, clean and disinfect cuts and scrapes, relieve the itch and discomfort of insect bites, cool and refresh the skin in hot weather, spruce up towels and linens, as an air freshener, to dampen wrinkled clothing while ironing.

Cosmetic Softening the Skin

Cut a lemon in half. Remove the pulp and turn it inside out with the peel showing inside. Leave for a few hours in a cool place. 

Whisk the white of an egg and pour into it. Use as a cosmetic to soften the skin.

Dry Hands i) Use honey instead of soap to wash your hands. Apply honey to dry hands first and add water gradually, then rinse hands in the honey water and dry. 

ii) Apply oatmeal after washing your hands and before they are dry.
